Bissett's Son Arrested On Drug Charges

From The Capital's Police Beat

SOUTH COUNTY

Pot bust at beach

County police made two arrests early Thursday morning while patrolling an Edgewater beach.

Officers were at Beverly Beach Park at around 2 a.m. in search of noise violations, drug activity, trespassing and other offenses. They found two men sitting on a picnic table with suspected marijuana.

Police searched a backpack and said they found drug paraphernalia, two plastic bags containing 82.2 grams of suspected marijuana, worth $1,644, a digital scale, plastic baggies and $1,000 in cash.

Tayler Madden, 19, of 1106 Murray Drive in Edgewater, was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing and possession of marijuana.

Corey Bissett, 19, of 3535 Oak Drive in Edgewater, was charged with drug possession and trespassing.

Bissett is the son of Phil and Robin Bissett. Phil is a former state delegate and is currently running for the County Council's District 7 seat. Robin currently serves on the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee and is running for re-election. The Bissetts said Friday morning that the incident will not affect their candidacies.

While Phil Bissett stands aimlessly along our roads holding a sign and espousing his "family values" campaign for County Council, his son is arrested with a stash of drugs and cash at a Mayo playground.

We deserve better in Anne Arundel County!
